Accessing nagios database read only

IS there a way and if so how access the database read only. Reason for asking, our App/Dev group would like to access the database to create reports from within Business Objects.

It's possible to set up a read-only MySQL account, but that's outside of our support scope.

Thank you, I will pass that on to them. I really didn't want to allow this anyway.
