Dear Support Team,

Please help us to get clarity on following queries to monitor 4000 (15,000 Services in each 1000 devices) devices for one of our esteemed customer.

1. Can we monitor 15,000 service metrics from single NagiosXI Monitoring Server with 5 min interval (regardless of hardware)
2. If not please suggest the best practices for monitoring 15,000 service metrics from single NagiosXI instance.
3. Is it possible site to site replication which is geographically far from one site to another site?
4. What about LINBIT DRBD Cluster we have suggested for CentOS 6.5 . Do we have any document from LINBIT or Nagios for site to site replication for CentOS 7?
5. What should be the bandwidth required for 15,000 in site to site replication.(5 min interval in avg)
6. Can you please suggest for licensing for DRBD licensing or any suggested link for LINBIT DRBD
7. Is it possible we can use one license for 2 servers which is in cluster?
8. Planing to purchase 4 NagiosXI licenses and 1 Fusion license ....

Please help we have to submit document tomorrow only..

Thanks in Advanced

Team Taashee (Manoj Namdev)

1. Regardless of hardware? Probably not, it depends on the checks. If you're doing this on a Raspberry Pi for instance, it's probably not going to work.

2. There are various performance tweaks you can look into around 10,000+ checks. You can offload your database. You could use a ramdisk. You could look at using Mod Gearman to offload some of the work to another server.

3. You're looking to replicate your Nagios Information from one site to another site? Technically possible, but not something fully tested by us, and it will take some scripting on your side.

4. You would have to contact LinBit about that. The process would be pretty similar, you would need to account for systemd, mariadb, and other various other changes.

5. This is nearly impossible to calculate. It's going to vary from check to check and installation to installation. It's not going to be massive, but it's next to impossible to calculate.

6. You can get in touch with them here.

7. No. You can use it to failover, but they cannot both be actively monitoring.

8. Good to hear!

Dear HSmith,

Thanks a lot for your kind response. We got more confidence based on your given information.

We got couple of things from LINBIT also...for NagiosXI site to site DRBD Proxy replication.

Only one query....

Can we use NagiosXI's one license for two active passive clustered systems....in HA mode.

(Its great tool)

If you're using an active / passive HA setup then this is allowed with one license. But, if you're running an active / active HA setup then this would require two licenses.
