User Permissions and Add Comments

We have an operations team that is monitoring all of our systems in XI. We want them to be able to add comments to an alert to be able to track the escalation of an event. The user that they are signed in as is a "User" with "Read Only" permissions and "Can control all objects", however they still do not have the ability to add a comment to an event. The only way that I can get a user to be able to add comments is by giving them full permissions. Should this be the case or am I missing something?

"Read Only" permissions and "Can control all objects" are mutually exclusive. RO users should not be able to control anything...

If you want these users to be able to add comments, you will need to select "Can access advanced features" check-box:

If the "Can see all objects" is not selected, they will be able to see only hosts/services they have been added to as monitoring contacts.

In the future releases of XI we may have a better (more granular) permissions/multi-tenancy capabilities. It's on our developers' TODO list.

Hope this helps.

Is there a way to allow them to add comments, acknowledge alerts, but still limit them to only be able to see the hosts/services that they are contacts for. I dont want them to see alerts for Development systems as they will call out at 2am on a dev box which is not wanted. If not I can make this work until the new permissions functionality is added to later version.
