Not everybody in a Contact group was notified

We had a server go down lastnight and not everybody in the contact group for the various services was notified.
The group for all the services has 6 email address's yet only 4 of them was contacted. The address's that wasn't contacted is on other items for different servers/services and he gets those.

Any ideas and where to begin looking as to why?
In Nagios Core I can see the 4 notification sent out, but not the other 2.

We will need more information in order to troubleshoot the issue.

Can you post the configs of the contact(s), contact group(s), notification command, and any relevant templates?

Are you using SMTP or Sendmail?

Admin->Manage Email Settings

Are these contacts "xi users" or "contacts only"?

Can you show the Notifications Report from the same time period (when the notification was supposed to be sent)?

Reports->Notifications

Do you see any errors in the mail log?

The contacts that should have been 3 different people. Each person has 2 types of contact info. 1 is thier regular email address, the second is to send their cell phone a message. The person that was not notified did not get it in their email, or cell.

Can you post the configs of the contact(s), contact group(s), notification command, and any relevant templates?
We will need this information as well.

I suspect that your contacts are set to use the generic notify-host-by-email or notify-service-by-email, when they need to be using the XI commands, which utilize SMTP.

If you have an option "n" specified in the host or service notification options, the emails won't be sent to this contact.

Here's a quote from our documentation:
Contact - host notification options

This directive is used to define the host states for which notifications can be sent out to this contact. Valid options are a combination of one or more of the following:
d = notify on DOWN host states,
u = notify on UNREACHABLE host states,
r = notify on host recoveries (UP states),
f = notify when the host starts and stops flapping, and
s = send notifications when host or service scheduled downtime starts and ends.
If you specify n (none) as an option, the contact will not receive any type of host notifications.

Parameter name: host_notification_options
Required: yes
The same is valid for the "service_notification_options".

You can remove the "n" option by going to CCM->Contacts->Edit->Alert Settings, clear the "n" check-box, save, and apply configuration.

interesting, this person does get notifications for other items.
I will make those adjustments.

but if you notice the service notification for service 'n' was unchecked.

Another thing - is what I mentioned above.
I suspect that your contacts are set to use the generic notify-host-by-email or notify-service-by-email, when they need to be using the XI commands, which utilize SMTP.
The email could be getting filtered by the SMS provider, since these will be sending directly from the XI machine, versus how users of XI are utilizing xi_host_notification_handler and xi_service_notification_handler.

All contacts and users are set to use the generic for service and host notifications. Including the 2 that did get the text messages. But even if did get hung up by the cell phone provider for the person that did not get the messages, he still should have gotten the emails.
Along with that, on the log files that I posted here during the time frame, it doesn't show anythign being amiss.

Can you check if you have multiple instances of nagios running?

Please verify that the xi user's email under the "Manage Users" page (Admin->Manage Users) matches the corresponding contact's email under the "Contacts" page (CCM->Contacts).

Can you log in (or masquerade as) this user, click on the username in the upper right corner, and show us the "Notification Preferences", and "Notification Methods" settings?

Also, show us the service definition of the service that this user/contact should have been notified about.
