Good Afternoon,

I have been setting up Nagios Log Server on our network for the past few days. I had 14 hosts installed with nxlog, but today I logged in and it says its only receiving hosts from 11. Is there a reason that Nagios would not be seeing all the hosts, or why it would stop seeing hosts? I can still see all the hosts in NagiosXI.

That number is not always accurate, unfortunately. I would definitely not consider that an accurate depiction of the state of your network. The number should be improved in a future version.

Thanks for the quick response. Sounds good we just wanted to make sure that we were not losing hosts when installing.

Is it alright if we lock this thread and mark the issue as resolved?

I do have one more question. Is there a way that I can see what the actual Host count is in Nagios Log Server. Just so I can see how many hosts are pointed at the box? I tried using the top hosts dashboard and changing the display settings but that does not show me all the hosts either.

When you're looking at a dashboard, there is a menu on the left that says "fields". Click the host button on that list. Now hit the button that says terms and hit table. This will now give you a list of hosts that are sending information that meets your current search/query criteria, I think the limit is 10 by default. If you hit the cog in the panel and go to the panel tab, you can adjust the box that says 'length' to show however many hosts you please.
