I've only noticed this issue on one of the 1100+ hosts currently being watched by Nagios.

Nagios XI 2014R2.7
NSClient++ 0.4.3.143 x64

I renamed the perfdata files for the CPU check so they would be recreated thinking it was that data that got messed up, but that doesn't seem to be the case as it happened again within the last 24 hours. Any idea what's causing this? I read https://support.nagios.com/forum/viewto ... 93&p=20613 but it doesn't appears they're using the same check that I am. Is this related?

You may want to upgrade to the latest Stable 4.4.x version of the NSClient and see if that helps.
I looked at the changelog and is shows a bug for negative performance data which sounds like what you are seeing.

Just upgraded to 0.4.4.23. So far so good, but the other version took a while to crap out, so we'll see.
I'll report back soon whether this was the fix or not.

Unfortunately, that did not fix it (attached).

Just for clarification, after I upgraded NSClient, I renamed the .rrd and .xml files for this service in the host's directory in /usr/local/nagios/share/perfdata/HOSTNAME/. When it recreated them and started graphing again, all was well. The graph looked normal, then the attached happened around 03:30. Any other ideas? I'll look in the server's logs, but I don't have high hopes for that.

Could we see the contents of your NSClient++ log? It's usually located at C:\Program Files\NSClient++\nsclient.log.

Yes, the negative values are persistent once they start. I updated NSClient++ on 9/13 in the afternoon, at which time I also renamed the .rrd and .xml perfdata files so the graph would be re-created, and until I left for the day the graph looked good. The next day there were negative values in the perfdata and it's been like that since. This is the only host we've seen this issue on. Very strange.
