Hi,

I am using google maps component to display hosts using the gps coordinates in the notes field. This is not really useful since we end up with a few hundred icons overlaying each other. Instead we wanted to use hostgroups as icon similar to whet you can do in the current nagvis 1.9b (geomap) however the maps are not as nice and it is beta release so crashes.

so is it possible to have either host/service/hostgroup/servicegroup/regularexpression and represent them as icons on google maps?
if possible we want to show a different view depending on who is looking at it

Using hostgroup icons in googlemap component is not possible at the moment. If is a good candidate for a feature request though.

FYI, there is a new version of the googlemap component that is going to be released with Nagios XI 5.3.0, in which you could filter host by hostgroups (select a hostgroup from a drop-down menu). This should help at least some.

We are currently using NagiosXI 5.3.2 and would like to be able to plot host groups onto the google map, I am not seeing a way of doing this at the moment and going by all the info I can find here it is not currently an option.

If it is a case of me missing something or not looking in the right place for the info I need please can someone give me a nudge in the right direction, if it is indeed currently a function that is not available please can it be added as a feature request as it would be very helpful to be able to add host groups to the map rather than single hosts.

We do have an internal feature request already filed for adding this functionality (task_id=9698) - "Task Detail: Nagios XI Feature Request: Nagios XI - Google Maps component to allow hostgroups".

Thanks for that, is there a rough ETA on this functionality at the moment please?

based on https://www.nagios.com/roadmaps/ earliest looks like Friday, February 3, 2017...but I am not sure if that is set for 5.4...so the real answer to your question is "no." Sorry about that.

Feb 2017 has already passed and It looks that there is no updates on the pluggin to show Google maps per host groups in Nagios.
do you have any updates for it ?

There was a big review of feature requests where many of them were rejected. I am happy to say this one made the cut.

However, there has not yet been a version decided for it. I would check back in December or whenever 5.5 comes out, and we may be able to give you an update if it is not included in 5.5.
