We are planning to upgrade our nagios server from Nagios core 3.5.0 to Nagios XI.Kindly let us know if we can upgrade directly from 3.0.5 to Nagios XI
Steps required/Prerequisites/Post upgrade checks which needs to be done for the upgrade activity. Also if we can preserve the historical reporting data after the upgrade.
Our server is running on CentOS 6.5 OS
Thanks in Advance !!!

Basic steps:
• Deploying a new Nagios XI instance
• Uploading plugins and scripts to XI
• Migrating Nagios Core configuration files to XI
• Adding user accounts to the XI server
• Testing the XI server
• De-commissioning the old Nagios Core server

The document that @dwhitfield linked has the details. What questions do you have, or what issues are you running into?

That depends on the sort of reporting being done. The majority of the legacy reports that exist in Nagios Core make use of the nagios log files (both the active nagios.log file and the historial data in the archives path), so you would need to migrate those over as well.

Have you used your quickstart as a prospective XI customer? There is information at
https://www.nagios.com/services/quickstart/
That might be easier than the back-and-forth on the forum. That said, there are a ton of forum threads on issues people run into when doing this migration. Unfortunately, it is hard to know exactly what to have you migrate without knowing all the details of the old system. That's where the quickstarts come in.
If you don't want to do the quickstart for whatever reason, what plugins are you currently using? Did you install 3.5 from source or distribution repos? Also, for clarity, you say 3.5 twice but once say 3.0.5. Can you confirm we are talking about 3.5? Is CentOS 6.5 the OS for both the old and new server?

A direct upgrade from Core to XI is not possible since they are separate products (although XI uses Core under the hood). We do not recommend installing XI on top of an existing Core install. Please follow the instructions provided by
@dwhitfield which I will post again here for reference:

If you have specific questions about the process we can help out.
