quick search changed results

Hi,
I've just upgraded from 4.0.6 to 4.2.2 and noticed that when I do a quick search for multiple hosts, I get all of my hosts that I expect, but only the host detail, not all the service details as it used to be. If I search for just one host, I get the service details.
It seems this is expected, from the release notes for 4.2.2:
Quick search doesn’t show hosts without services (service status detail page)
But I wonder why? Clutter? I used to use this often to search for a couple machines and to look at the service details of those machines. I have lots of host/service groups, but don't want to have to create more just for this to work, not to mention, sometimes it's a one off and doesn't warrant a group.
Is this something that could be changed with a configuration? Or better yet, what if you go to one of the host summary/detail pages, and when you do a quick search you get hsot results, but if you're on the services pages and do a quick search you get the services of the hosts you're looking for?
Thanks,
Jason
