Nagios O.S compatibility

Is Nagios compatible with Oracle Linux VM running on Oracle Virtual manager (OVM)?
I created an Oracle Linux VM on OVM and installed nagios on it.
after two days, the VM crashed completely. I recreated the VM again and reinstalled the O.S as well as Nagios and the same thing happened again.
I called Oracle and they told me that as far as they are concerned, if Nagios can run on Redhat, it should run fine on Oracle Linux. The person I spoke to asked me to call Nagios to find out if Nagios will run on XFS file system which is the default file system Oracle Linux uses or a different one.
Please help

While they are similar, we do not test against OVM. Our XI install expects clean RHEL/CentOS (6/7) minimal system, with no configurations made to the system.

@rkennedy said, what version of Oracle are you using? XFS is the default in RHEL7:

Also, what version of XI? It's possible you have hit an XI bug. Can you install on CentOS and see if you can replicate the issue? After issue is replicated, PM me your Profile. You can download it by going to Admin > System Config > System Profile and click the Download Profile button towards the top. If for whatever reason you *cannot* download the profile, please put the output of View System Info (5.3.4+, Show Profile if older) in the thread (that will at least get us some info).
After you PM the profile, please update this thread. Updating this thread is the only way for it to show back up on our dashboard.

I am running a basic installation of Oracle Linux 7.X.

I can definitely do that. I will try to install on Cent O.S and see if the problem persists.
I will definitely post everything when I am done.

As far Nagios is concerned, I believe it was the latest version which I downloaded two weeks ago.

If it's XI 5.4.x (which it sounds like it is), then there is a bug you *might* be hitting related to the new version of NDOUtils. This should be fixed in 5.4.2, which is due out next week.
You could always try to install 5.3.4 (
https://assets.nagios.com/downloads/nag ... 3.4.tar.gz) and then upgrade when 5.4.2 drops.
