Hello,

I have a Nagiox XI server 2014 that have all my services/hosts etc.. and I have a Nagios XI server 2017 with nothing on it.

I want to be able to transfer everything from Nagios XI 2014 to Nagios XI 2017 in the right way and order. Tthere are a lot of Nagios guides and PDF to do some bits, but it is not clear what to do first and how to.

Is there a one guide that takes me through the above?

Thank you,
Peter

1) On the 2014 server, run through the standard upgrade procedure. To reduce the risk of config errors/ other issues I strongly recommend you upgrade to the first and last of every minor version:

2014r1.0 (or starting on whatever version you have) --> 2014r1.5 --> 2014r2.0 --> 2014r2.7 --> 5.2.0 --> 5.2.9 --> 5.3.0 --> 5.3.4 --> 5.4.1 (1/25/17)

Downloads for previous versions are here:

2) Once you've upgraded the old server to match the XI version the new server is running (latest XI version is 5.4.2 - 02/07/2017) take a backup. Be sure the two Nagios machines share the same XI version otherwise this step won't work.

3) Apply the back up to the new Nagios server - see link above -

Just checking in since we have not heard from you in a while. Did @bwallace's post clear things up or has the issue otherwise been resolved?
