Greetings,

we are trying to setup around 50+ NagiosXI master servers . My project is looking for a standardisation method for setting up Nagios log files. Like-in , How much size the Nagios.log should contain and how much size the other files like "npcd.log" should contain?

what are the ways of rotating the logs in NagiosXI application?
what are the ways of customizing the logs while during NagiosXI installation itself, due to restricted environment we will be doing only offline installs.

Any inputs from the users is much appreciated. Thanks.

Regards,
Aravind

I know you asked for users, but I'll chime in here.

Each install is different, but https://assets.nagios.com/downloads/nag ... ion_method could be useful for you.

It's not really about logging, but http://YOURSERVER/nagiosxi/admin/performance.php could be of help, particularly on the database side of things.

We'll see what others have to say!

Many Thanks for your post ;)
Yes we will wait for inputs from other users as well, In specific we are looking that if these parameters (log_rotation_method) can be altered during the installation process itself.

Certainly you can manage installs with things like puppet. Strictly speaking, https://support.nagios.com/kb/article.php?id=454 is about Core, but it should give some ideas about XI.

There's also chef: https://assets.nagios.com/presentations ... h_Chef.pdf

The installation is just a bash script, so it's pretty customizable, but it's difficult for us to support customization if something goes wrong.

There are customers with pretty complex setups. I think most of them are more likely to respond in the Customer Forum section. I don't know if you have access to that, and I can't say for certain if they will respond, but if you have access, I am happy to move it to the customer section. If you don't have access, but are a customer, you will need to email [email protected]
