I noticed that there is an updated version of the nagios-plugins package available, but that our Nagios XI installation (version 5.4.3, about to start testing updating to 5.4.4) is still using version 2.0.3 of the nagios-plugins package. Checked the Nagios XI source tarball for 5.4.4 and the current Hyper-V VM from your website as well and noticed that these are also still using nagios-plugins version 2.0.3.

Is 2.0.3 still the recommended version for Nagios XI servers?
Are there any specific reasons why current versions of Nagios XI are still installing nagios-plugins 2.0.3?

I was considering updating nagios-plugins when I update Nagios XI soon, but was wondering what the issues/reasoning was for this before investing time in testing the new version. Thanks.

Is there something specific you want from the new versions? Otherwise, I would use 2.0.3. For clarity, we are not aware of specific incompatibilities.

Using older, more tested things is standard practice in the enterprise. For example, the latest version of Core is 4.3.1, but we use 4.2.4 in XI. Of course, it's not just us, look at the versions of just about everything in Red Hat.

If you're having a specific issue with the current plugins, I would suggest opening a separate forum thread for the specific issue.
