What Nagios mount points to monitor

Hello,

I'm building a new NagiosXI server and the mount points are different on the new box. Which of these do I need to monitor because they are likely to fill up?

Thanks in advance for the advice.

/ would be the obvious one, but why not monitor them all?

Also, if you are concerned about space, why not just give it more space? XI is not *likely* to run out of space unless you don't follow our hardware suggestions: https://assets.nagios.com/downloads/nag ... ements.pdf

OK, I've set up monitoring for all of them.

We have it sized correctly, but after our recent Nagios failure due to a filled mount point my boss wants to make sure we monitor anything that might give us problems by filling up.

Thanks for your help!

I think this is a really good idea on the local server. It might be overkill on remote servers, especially if the checks are active.

One thing I might suggest is not checking every 5 minutes. Especially if you have the warning and critical set appropriately, it's unlikely your disk is going to fill up *quickly* unless you've got some sort of run-away script and in that case, 5 minutes might not be enough anyway. It just depends on your load issues, but just a thought.

Do you have any other questions, or are we ready to lock this up?

Thanks for the tip. I think I will increase the delay between check times.

We're good. Thank you again for your help!
