I intend to create a user who only can access a subset of hosts and their associated services.
According to the multi-tenant documentation, all I have to do is adding this user's contact to each one of the hosts I want as the subset.
Questions:
- Is there some way to accomplish this using hostgroups ( although hostgroups do not have (afaik) a contact field )?
- I dont want this user to receive alerts or mails; should I create a dummy contact template, that does nothing?
- Is there any better/quicker/smarter way to do this?

No, in fact the documentation explicitly says that. However you could do something like creating a host template with the correct hostgroup and contact.

I don't entirely understand this question but I'd guess you would simply want to configure your contact with host_notifications_enabled and service_notifications_enabled set to 0.
