NRPE truncate output

Hi,
NRPE truncate the output to 1024 character
https://github.com/NagiosEnterprises/nrpe/issues/32

We have a problem because some check have an output bigger than 1024 character

I see that the NRPE version present in the default linux agent is 2.15, but the 3.x resolve the problem

https://assets.nagios.com/downloads/nag ... _Agent.pdf
https://assets.nagios.com/downloads/nag ... ent.tar.gz
https://github.com/NagiosEnterprises/nr ... /Changelog (I suppose row 103)

When the 3.x version of NRPE will be put in the bundle? Or there is a patch to bypass the 1024 char limit?

Thanks,

There is no patch. I believe the version of NRPE will be updated with the next minor release:

https://www.nagios.com/roadmaps/

You can install NRPE 3 on an existing XI system, however please be aware it will be reverted to the XI standard if the system is upgraded.

Does this answer your question?

Just checking in since we have not heard from you in a while. Did @avandemore's post clear things up or has the issue otherwise been resolved?

Sorry, but I did not find any reference to NRPE in the roadmap.

There will be problem if we install NRPE 3 only on remote clients?

Or you can suggest another agent/tool that can execute local script/check/pluging and "speak" with NagiosXI? (Without the limit of 1024 char ;) )

Thanks,

NRPE v3 should be installed on both, the client and the server in order to overcome the 1024 char limit issue. NRPE v3 will be included in Nagios XI 5.5.0. I don't have an exact release date, the 5.5.0 should be out sometime this fall.
