Email Alert not working

Dear I am using Nagios core 4.2 and has setup email alerts but i am unable to receive alerts please help how i can troubleshoot the issue.

In the Nagios UI, go to the Notification menu and see if the Nagios daemon tried to send an email notification.
If it did, check the /var/log/maillog file to see if the mailer daemon that is installed on your server received it and forwarded it on to the next server.
