Getting "UP" Notifications

Hi,

I have an "problem" with getting a lot of hosts being UP notifications.
This always happens when a parent (for example router) goes down (I get no notifications about the childs, as the parent is monitored each minute, and the child's less often), and then when the parent goes up I get a lot of notifications about the childs being UP (don't know if for all of them, didn't have time to check).

Is this by design? Or did I configure something wrong?
It would be better if after the parent being UP I would only get mails if some of the childs are still DOWN after switching from UNREACHABLE.

I assume you'd still like to get UP alerts if the child is DOWN and then recovers correct? Otherwise there are notification options under the host's Alert Settings tab to disable recovery notifications.

Yeah, that's a sure thing, but not when it turns from UNREACHABLE to UP...

The other option would be to disable UNREACHABLE alerts on the client. It will not send an alert when the parent comes back up if it never sent an UNREACHABLE alert in the first place. Beyond that we're probably talking a feature request.

It seems, that You are wrong, I have only the following options ticked:
Host Recovery, Host Down, Host Flapping (and a few things in services)

Host Unreachable is disabled...

I've tested this a bit and something isn't quite adding up as it's working as expected when testing. I'd like to take a look at the config and it may be best to work through a ticket for this. Please email a profile(Admin > System Settings > System Profile) to [email protected] and reference this thread in the email. Please also indicate a parent/child you see this occurring with as well as if you're getting alerts that the child is unreachable in the first place.
