Exchange Wizard

Hi,
I just set up a host using the Exchange wizard. Everything shows a good status except for two categories: (1) Blacklist Status (2) Exchange Core Services. Both say critical.
The Blacklist status information just says "(null)". The Exchange Core Services says "MSExchangeADTopology: Started - MSExchangeAntispamUpdate: Started - MSExchangeEdgeSync: Started - MSExchangeFDS: Started - MSExchangeImap4: Started - MSExchangeIS: Started - MSExchangeMailboxAssistants: Started - MSExchangeMailSubmission: Started - MSExch"
Totally useless status information and I have no idea what's going on there. Any ideas?

I'm not sure about the blacklist check as we don't use it, the other one however is a list of exchange services that are running and their state (services.msc on the windows box) if you check the full status text of the exchange core services monitoring by clicking the service link one of them will have "stopped" next to it. If whatever service that happens to be isn't required in your environment then go to the services page in the nagios configuration manager and once you've found the appropriate check remove that windows service from monitoring (I think it will be a comma delimited list in one of the argument fields).

Thanks for your reply. I'm not sure what link you're referring to, however. All of the specific services listed are OK except for "Exchange Core Services". When I click on that one, it gives me basically no information...just a list of services that say "Started" and it looks like the list cuts off. AND all of those services are indeed started on my server anyway.

Figured out that it was the POP3 service. We don't have POP3 enabled and once I removed it from the list of services, the monitor was green.

Glad yo got it figured out, I was going to mention that we just had the same discussion in another post where I wrote

I know the Exchange wizard by default loads a huge list of items to check, but you don't have to leave them all in there if you don't use them. As a matter of face, the list is so long that it always gets cut off and you might not be able to see the item that is failing.
I would recommend taking out those that you don't want to use and then maybe splitting the rest into multiple services if they are still too long.
For the blacklist checks, again, it defaults to check a ton of possible blacklists some of which could be down or no longer in operation, you could reduce this list as well to determine the problem...

I realized I never mentioned what I did to get the blacklist check working. And now I'm not even sure what it was... The script's author suggested I install the Net::DNS Perl module and that made it work from the command line. I think maybe the other part of it had to do with how my hostname was set up (.local).

you had the same issue that i did have. Disabled the pop and imap and then finish
