How do I delete or close an alert in Nagios XI
How do I delete or close an alert in Nagios XI
We are switching our Alert Console over to Nagios (from Omnibus). We have some Passive events that come in from various applications that request our operators perform some function, then close the alert. In Omnibus they right click/delete the event. There is no Closing/OK event sent by the sending application. It looks like Acknowledge does not actually close the alert, it only suppresses notifications. Is there an equivalent of close or delete?

Operators can send a passive "OK" from the Service Status Detail page. Please let us know if that is not going to work for you.

I think that would work but I don't see that as an action on the Service Status Detail page. Maybe I need to configure it?

I was correct, but imprecise!
You'll notice on the Service Status Detail page there are a number of tabs (probably 7). The third one over kinda looks like the Swiss flag. Click on that. On the right hand column (named Commands), the third option down is "Submit passive check result"
From here, you will want to make sure you set the Check Result as Up or Ok depending. Also, you are required to put something in the Check Output column. Your organization can decide if anything relevant should go there. If you don't care, you can just put any character. You'll get this information in the audit log, but my suggestion would be to have the tech put their initials, username, or something of that nature in that field.

OK, I found it on the Advanced Tab and tested it. That will work for now.
One of these days I think I will create an action that will do the same, just hard code the OK.
Thanks for the help

It sounds like this issue has been resolved. Is it okay if we lock this thread? Thanks for choosing the Nagios forums!
