IPsec monitoring in NagiosXI, cannot figure it out

Post by nagiorickroll »

I am new to Nagios and pretty much the whole SNMP with my 2 years networking experience. I have 5 Sonicwalls that each has 3-6 IPsecs to pfSense.
I can't figure out how to add IPsec monitoring to a host. I watched some videos/read forums with all kind of info all over and in the end, I am confused even more.
I already established SNMP through the wizard with 1 Sonicwall it shows port traffic but says host is down (i guess I have to enable wan ping on Sonicwall?). I understood that each service has OID that you had to add (I don't understand where) in order to monitor it but I can not even find OID for IPsec/VPN in the first place.
One thing that no one really talked about is SNMP during my education, all I knew is port 161...wish I would foresee the future and get prepared better.

You can use the SNMP walk wizard under Configure > Configuration Wizards find available OIDs on a device.

Available OIDs are completely dependent on the device so you may have better luck working with the sonicwall team to find specific OIDs for the device, but the walk wizard may give you what you need.
