Hi,
Can we use Nagios over internet vpn.
for e.g. if i want to monitor clients server which are hosted at DC outside of india.
and from india if i can monitor those server over internet vpn.
or else is there any procedure that i can installed check point vpn client on my centos server,
where i have installed NagiosXI so i will be in client network and hence i can easilty monitor those servers.
please let me know the procedure.

Yes, Nagios works over a VPN.

do i need to installed any vpn client on linux box ?
for getting access of client environment.

This will depend on the network infrastructure, if the Nagios XI server is part of a network segment that is all part of the VPN then nothing should be required.

We use Nagios over our VPN's. The VPN tunnels need to be established and it works great.

can you please share docs available with you for establish vpn tunnels.
at client end they are having cisco vpn so my concern is,do i need to installed cisco vpn client on centos machine,
on which nagiosxi is running.

I know this is outside the realm of Nagios, but I'll help where I can. First off, you need to have two devices which will establish a VPN tunnel. We purchased two Cisco 5500 series firewalls and we used them to create the VPN tunnel. You can use a number of devices like Sonicwalls or two servers with OpenVPN. If you use OpenVPN one of them must be the server and the other the client.
