Hello all:
I have to Change the IP for my Nagios server. I have around 200 nodes being monitored. Is there any other consideration i should take before change the Server IP?.

i know i have to change the nsclient for all my servers. but something else should i modify somewhere? Nagios side?

Hi @ lpereira,

If you change the Nagios server ip,you will have to go to NSClient configuration file and updated the nagios ip from the allowed hosts section and you will also have to do the same for NRPE agent as well if you are using it.

Basically if you change your nagios server IP, you will have to update that IP in any of the monitoring agents(NSClIENT,NRPE...etc) running on your hosts otherwise they wont be able to communicate(WON'T RUN CHECKS AND WON'T RECEIVE perfdata).

Yes.. we have added a DNS definition and we will modify the NSClient on the monitored nodes pointing to the server name instead the IP Address. My question is, should i consider any other thing beside that?. Should i take care of something else Nagios side?

In that case,you shouldn't be worried about anything It should work just fine.

i have changed the Nagios XI IP Address and everything is working as expected.
