@terminus,

It depends on what abilities you would like this "new user" to be able to do?

For example, did you only want him/her to be able to view some hosts/services or all of them?

What about rights would you be allowing him/her to have? Rights to acknowledge? force an immediate check? etc?

Here's our documentation for understanding user rights in Nagios XI.

https://assets.nagios.com/downloads/nag ... Rights.pdf

https://assets.nagios.com/downloads/nag ... ios-XI.pdf

Also make sure that when you create the new user. Only select the specific boxes that you would like the user to have. (The documentation will give an explanation of each)

Let us know if this helps!

I will explain

for example
I'm have in nagios xi for monitoring 100 hosts and 1000 services
user1, role admin, сan see all objects (use checkbox in admin -> manage users).
need:
user2, role user, can see not all objects.
i'm want to assign objects(hosts and servises), which user2 can see
may be 8 hosts and some services for them

how to do it ?

thanks

Thanks for the explanation.

When you created "user2" did you select it as a monitoring contact?

In order to allow "user2" to view selected hosts, you must go to those hosts/services specifically in --> XI Home --> Configure --> Core Config Manager --> Select hosts/services you want this user to view --> Go to alert settings --> Manage contacts

Add in "user2" and save, apply the configuration and then "user2" should have access to only specific hosts/services depending on his user rights.

If he has read-only access, then he will only be able to see what he is allowed to see. (play around with the user rights a bit, and you will see what I mean)

but contact groups in my nagios xi are default and clear...

Since user2 cannot "see all objects"

Which security settings does user2 have? Please tell us which ones are checked for user2.

Could you send in your Nagios XI Profile? On the XI Home Page click "Admin" > "System Profile" --> "Download Profile" button
Save the profile.zip file and upload it here or PM me if you would like.

Hi @terminus,

To get the system profile that @kyang requested, follow the steps below:

Go to your Nagios XI web UI, click on Admin >> System Profile >> Download Profile
Download_system_profile.PNG
I strongly recommend that you read the kb article that @kyang recommended.

In case you forgot, here it is again...Understanding-Multi-Tenancy-Within-Nagios-XI

Please let us know if you have any questions.
