Email notifications not using the notification interval.

Nagios Support Forum,
My server is running Nagios Core 3.2.3 (Groundwork Monitoring Server) and e-mail notifications via the Sendemail script have been set-up. The notification interval has been set to 30, which means it will resend the e-mail every 30 minutes.
Instead, the e-mails arrive every 2-5 minutes. At first, it started with every 3 minutes, but can also arrive every 4 minutes, or even 2.
Why is this happening
+ : All the notifications sent are configured to send an e-mail only when the host is DOWN.
