Monitoring servers in a failover config

Is there anyway for Nagios XI to monitor client servers that have host based failover configured on them ?

What I would like to do is the following:

Server A - goes down; suppress the alerting and monitoring of Server A automatically if possible and initiate monitoring of Server B where the services being monitored have failed over.

I know that Nagios XI has its own high availability that you can configure between Nagios XI monitoring servers, but I do not know of a solution (or have been able to find one) for what I am attempting for servers that are being monitored.

Have you checked out the plugin check_cluster

If the client servers are clustered, then you could check them with that plugin.

Here's the article for an explanation.

Otherwise, the high availability article lists some examples, unless you have read it already.
