customizing highcharts appearance

Post by mikestevenson »

Is it possible to customize the appearance of the highcharts performance graphs? For instance, changing colors, line thickness, etc? I did some googling and believe it may be possible by twiddling around some php files, but since I don't really know php I wanted to make sure I wasn't completely off track before going down that particular rabbit hole.

Yes, you can make changes:
One of the key features of Highcharts is that under any of the licenses, free or not, you are allowed to download the source code and make your own edits. This allows for personal modifications and a great flexibility.

That said, these changes are likely to get overwritten on XI upgrades, and even if you back up your changes, the changes may not be compatible with future versions of XI.

If it were me, I definitely wouldn't try it, but if it's important for your organization, just make sure you are running on a test server. Each license of XI gives you the ability to install a production server (of course!), a test server, and a backup server. I'd suggest taking frequent snapshots on the test server for easy rollbacks. If you are working on a physical server, just take frequent XI backups (that could be your strategy from the VM as well).

We are unable to help with such modifications through general support, but we do offer custom development if that is something that would be of interest.
