Nagios migrate to new server and new nagios version

Hello,

I need to migrate all my nagios(3.5) and check_mk(1.2.4) settings from a ubuntu 12.04 LTS to a new ubuntu 16.04 LTS server. I have installed
nagios(4.2.1) and check_mk(1.4.0p26) on the new server. How can I migrate my nagios setup? Is it possible to migrate from 3.5 to nagios 4.2.1?

(I just found out with check_mk that I need to install the old check_mk versions in between and upgrade from there, so I need to uninstall check_mk .1.4.0p26, not sure how to do that either)

Thanks!

Kind regards,

I can't make comments on check_mk or mklivestatus. Those individual communities (specifically the mailing lists) are probably a better place to get advice on migration options for those systems:

This post has a sed command that can comment out old Nagios 3 configuration directives in the main nagios.cfg file:

But there's no simple script I am aware of that covers every possible race condition for all of your configuration files. It'll probably be a bit touch-and-go with configuration verifications if you take your Nagios 3 configs and drop them into a Nagios 4 installation.

All that said, if you encounter specific errors when trying to verify configurations in Nagios Core, specific advice can definitely be offered if the problematic config files are shared.
