HI Team,

I have to upgrade the Nagios Log server from 1.4.4 to the latest (N-1) version in my environment. Please assist me in following queries.

1. How the upgrade can be done ( Online or Offline) - Any documentation ?
2. Do the existing license will remain same or should i want to procure new licenses for latest version
3. After upgrade the clients that are reporting to log server at present will remain same or it has to be added back again?
4. Is there any Backup of logs to be taken and restore after upgrade ( if yes please let me know the steps for it)

Please let me know at the earliest as I want to upgrade the version asap as the go-live date is very near. Thanks for your understanding.

Same license, but once upgrade is complete you will need to click an activate link.

They will remain

Thanks for your valuable comments scott.

I like to know is there any Roll back procedure available in case of upgrade failure.

There is not a system-wide, rollback, if it a VM you could create a snapshot. The most important info is in the backups located here /store/backups/nagioslogserver/ as well as having a backup of your logs in a repository described in the docs above.

With both of these things it should be possible to recover from even catastrophic failure.
