Auto-Discovery Process not looking up DNS

Post by jlmallard »

For the first time I have just loaded up the VMware VM of Nagios XI, and run the Auto-Discovery Wizard on my LAN. IP addresses were correctly discovered, but the Wizard does not appear to do a reverse DNS lookup on the DNS server to establish the hostnames. NagiosXI did a DHCP of my LAN, and on the console,if I ping hostnames, it works correctly so clearly the DNS lookups are working fine.

Have I not configured something that will allow reverse DNS lookups, or can the product not do this?
I realise that you can go back manually and change the display name of each host, but it seems strange that the product does not try to do this anyway.

Currently, the Auto-Discovery Wizard does not have such functionality. This is something that could be added but it all depends on how much interest we will see from customers.
