NagiosXi-adding host error

Post by smapple »

Hi,

I am trying to add a new host for monitoring. Nagios says "One or more config files have problems" when I apply Configuration.

This host was macOS but now its been migrated to Linux. After adding the server in core config, it does not give any error but I dont see the host added.

Can you let me know how do I resolve this?

Thanks,

You can remove the services for this host and the host in the Configure -> CCM
Service
Select template for the host to me removed
select all
Delete

Then under the hosts menu,
Select host Delete

Then Apply Configuration

After I try to add the host using CCM, "I get a message successfully added the host".
However when I search for the host it does not list this host in Host Status page.

Is the Host set as not active in the Core Config Manager?
If it is not active, it is not saved to the running config so it will not be in the Host Details menu.
Also, if the Apply Config was not run, it will not save the host to the running config. Make sure you Applied the Config as well.

I have deleted the host from both CCM and XI. I don't see my previous host anymore.

Is there a way you can call me and fix this issue? Messages take longer

If the Host was removed from the Core Config Manager and the Apply Config passed, you can re-add the new host and services by following the instructions in the 2 links below.

And these links are some short videos / documentation on how to use the Wizards in XI to monitor Linux systems.

The permissions has to be reset for the configuration files and to to that, run the following as root.

Code: Select all

cd /usr/local/nagiosxi/scripts
./reset_config_perms.sh
Then try and add the host again to see if it can be created.

I ran the script.
cd /usr/local/nagiosxi/scripts
/reset_config_perms.sh
RESETTING PERMS

It said RESETTING PERMS. However I still see the error.Attached screenshot.

I see the number of host is CMM is 19 now with status "Not applied", However I swear I have applied configuration at least 4 times.

This is a critical server and its not been monitored. Please do let me know how do I resolve this?
