Check vs Notification Period (I know this seems basic)

Just wanted to confirm, since im a little over paranoid from changing all my templates.

The current scenario is, our current environment uses a 24x7 monitor with time period exclusions. We migrated these from Core, and not only do the notifications stop during those exclusions , so does monitoring..so we have large gaps in our data on say Sunday/Saturday evenings. that said, I want to update the Monitoring Period (not notification) to be TRUE 24x7 to capture data all of the time. I understand I can do this and it shouldn't change alerting (i.e. if we are checking during the maintenance window and things show critical, they shouldn't alert because that schedule will not change).

Thanks for any insight/confirmation!

Regards,
Mike

The check period is independent of the Notification period so you should be safe to change the Check period.
There should be a period called xi_timeperiod_24x7 that you can use for that.
It is the default 24x7 period that is defined in XI.

Correct - the notification_period and check_period options(https://assets.nagios.com/downloads/nag ... .html#host) are separate and setting the check_period to be 24x7 will allow for true 24x7 monitoring and data gathering while notification_period will dictate only when notifications are sent.
