Got the dashboard to show this message

No time filter Timestamped indices are configured without a failover. Waiting for time filter.

No Syslog messages at all are being displayed.

Anyone have an idea as to how I get the default dashboard back?

This likely has to do with the Index Settings. See the below screenshot showing the default options.
