DISK CRITICAL - /media/pi/HDD is not accessible: Permi

Nagios® Core™ 3.5.1 installed on Raspberry PI
Hi,
I am new to Nagios, so learning all the time.
I install Nagios on my Raspberry pi to monitor my HDD, but for some reason I get the message that they are not accesible: permission denied
With the nagiosadmin (part of the user account pi group) account on the PI, I can through SSH connect to the HDD fine on /media/pi/HDD and see the folder structure.
Not sure which troubleshooting steps I can perform more to figure out why this is ?
