Ticket IDs

Hey,
since upgrading i note that the backend api stuff has been removed, just curious how we get the ticket id's now to auto login on page load?
we have a few kiosk tv's around our office that use the ?username=tv&ticket=ticketid to autologin and now they no longer work, and also the check_license.sh script doesnt appear to work anymore and complains that the ticket is invalid...
how do we use these features now with 5.5?
