Can't get generic-switch to work

Hey all, I didn't have a generic-switch file in my Nagios install. I found templates.cfg and tried to cut that down to use it as switches_nagios2.cfg but no joy. I tried using the full file but no joy. I tried the full file as templates_nagios2.cfg but that started giving me errors in other files. There were a few error messages about duplicate definitions but those messages pointed back to the file name that was the dupe. SO, how can I get my Nagios server to start pulling information from my ProCurve switches?

Thanks,

Joe B

Ok, now Nagios will start up with my switch configuration. At this time I have one switch registering as OK and seven others that are pending. I'm not sure what I was doing wrong. This time I was going through and renaming all of my .cfg files back to .cfg (I had changed them so Nagios would start) and writing down every step that I was taking so I could go back and undo everything should Nagios not cooperate. I restarted the Nagios server, I saw an error message generated by a typo in the hostgroups file, fixed that, restarted Nagios once more and it worked. Let's see... yep all eight switches I've configured show as UP. If anyone is following me in this process I hope you're enjoying the ride. It's tough to climb the mountain but the view from the top is pretty good!

Thanks,
