Nagios core web front end disconnected from backend

Hi All
Very stuck
NAgios and nrpe are running - can see results in the logs and command line calls,.
You can log in to the web front end,,,,,
but that's all -
all the other links say Whoops!
Error: Could not read object configuration data!
The Home page says not running!
but all evidence to the contrary.
In short the front won't talk to the back...
triple checked httpd conf to make sure pointing to the right place
permissions checked, changed checked and put back and checked.
Please netizens help me..
