Email notification stopped after upgrad from 3.4.1 to 4.3.4

My email notification stopped working after upgrading Nagios 3.4.1 to Nagios 4.3.4.

What OS and release is the Nagios server running on?
If you look at the nagios.log file, do you see the system trying to send the Notifications?
Do you see and errors in the /var/log/maillog file on the server?
If you go to the Process Info menu, does it show that Notifications are Enabled?

Do you see and errors in the /var/log/maillog file on the server? maillog is empty
If you go to the Process Info menu, does it show that Notifications are Enabled? Don't know where process info menu is located.

Nagios.log was not updated since Mar 28

The server has not ran since March 2018.
Is this the correct server?
Have you tried to start the nagios daemon?

Can you run the following commands and post the output here?

The nagios process is not running so run the following as root to start it.

Code: Select all

service nagios start
Then run this to check the status to see if it is running

Code: Select all

service nagios status
If it says it is running, then you are good to go.

If not, run this command to run a verification of nagios and post the output to the ticket.

/usr/local/nagios/bin/nagios -v /usr/local/nagios/etc/nagios.cfg

Thank you its running again and I'm able to get notifications.

Can you tell me where I can change the email address for the notifications?

If you want to change the emails address of a contact, you will have to edit the configuration file for that contacts email address.
On a typical server, you would edit the following file

/usr/local/nagios/etc/objects/contacts.cfg
