Problem with host groups and service escalation

Hello all,

I'm using Nagios XI 2011R2.1, im a 2 week nagios newbie

I'm having an issue where if I create a new Service Escalation with a Host Group and Services, the services are not retained when the form is saved. It appears to save successfully but if I edit the Escalation it shows the Service list as empty. Despite the issue I am able to apply configuration successfully.

My only work-around currently is to not use host groups, and select each host individually which appears to work fine

It may be related to the problem in the post - http://support.nagios.com/forum/viewtop ... ion#p13781 (no services appear in the services list when using host groups) - which I had initially until upgrading to 2011r2.1

can anyone reproduce this issue?

There are a few separate issues here.

Let's say you have a hostgroup with 10 members. You add a new service escalation, select this hostgroup under the Service Escalation Management, and select a service that is associated with 9 out of 10 hosts, members of this hostgroup. After applying configuration, you will get config errors, because this service doesn't exist on one of the hosts. In a case like this one, you will have to add individuals hosts instead of adding a hostgroup.

I was able to recreated the issue that you described and I can confirm it is a bug in 2011R2.0 and 20112.1. I posted it on our bug tracker, along with another (separate) issue that I found.

You can review these here:

We will be working on fixing these issues as soon as we can.

Hope this helps.
