Dear Expert

Notification is working great but Alert Escalations is so confusing
our scenario is that when Host goes down, after 2 minutes delay will send one and only one notification to our NMS team
if host remain down more than 15 minutes, we want to send Notification (Alert Escalations) to our Customer (only one email), how possible in current Nagios
we want to improve your Alert Escalations simply in your next version as attached (as simple as normal notification)

Regards

Hello, @zaji_nms. Nagios XI already supports notification escalations.
You can set up an escalation to send emails to XZY contacts after a host or a service already sends X number of notifications.
https://assets.nagios.com/downloads/nag ... ations.pdf

You could calculate based on the notification interval how many regular notifications will go out during a 15-minute interval and then set up your escalation based on this calculation.

Let me know if this makes sense?

Dear npolovenko

Sorry! We sending only one Notification to our NMS team quickly (after 2 minutes) and we want to send only one Notification to our customer after 15 minutes.

in both cases Notification Interval = 0

I already gone through your Alert Escalations document prior to post this Thread, its so confusing.

Can you do two things as follows

(a) : please explain practically how to achieve our Alert Escalations in current NagiosXI
(b) : will you plz raise feature request to simplify this Alert Escalations as mentioned in the attachment

Regards

@zaji_nms, I'm going to submit your idea of adding the alert escalation tab to the service check settings. Please keep in mind that the decision to implement the enhancement is at the discretion of our development team.
If you set the service notification interval to 0 then the escalation is not going to work. You should set the service notification interval to "how soon you want to receive the second notification".
Then create a service escalation for the second notification.

This means after the second notification till the problem is resolved send notifications to a different contact with the interval of 2880 minutes = 2 days. This ensures that the second contact likely won't receive more than 1 notification. Unless the problem is not resolved in 2 days.
2880 is just an example, you can do 5000 if you'd like.
