Hi there,

I am evaling the NagiosXI - I wanted to know, can you have the NagiosXI accepting passive checks for numerous distributed Nagios probes ? and how does this effect the licensing ?

I.e there will be one NagiosXI server but there might be numerous probes sending the data of the monitored devices ?

So for example if there were 100 devices with 5 probes and 1 NagiosXI installation would the cost still be $595 ?

Also to get any updates to NagiosXI for example the 100 device license does one have to purchase the $595 + $395 for support for the year ? or is the first year included in the $595?

Licensing depends on the total number of hosts/nodes on a particular Nagios XI install. Thus, if there are 100 devices in total that are on the central Nagios XI server, you could go with a 100-node license. However, you're right at the edge of the license bounds, so I would recommend an unlimited license in that situation.

We provide customers with free "minor" revision updates to Nagios XI without an additional charge. We've already made a few, and will continue to make more releases over the next few months. An upgrade to the next "major" release (probably named 2009R2) would not be included for free by default. If you purchase maintenance, the upgrade to 2009R2 is free if it happens while your maintenance period is in effect. If you don't have maintenance there would be an upgrade fee.
