Hi,
I can't seem to find the pdf or posts with respect to my question

I want to use vim to change my config files.
When i do, (simple rename) and i use the import tool, and i choose overwrite database.
it does not replace what I changed, but creates a duplicate check and I do want my changes to show up in the CCM

Can you tell me what I am doing wrong?
thank you in advance

Jennifer

Hi Jennifer,

The import feature simply adds those files to the CCM and that's why your seeing them as duplicates.

It's not possible to manually change configuration files generated by Nagios XI for use by Core. If you want to edit the files by hand you can place those files in the static directory /usr/local/nagios/etc/static. Those object definitions are not stored in the CCM database.

However, static configuration files will show up in the status pages, dashboards and reports.

Let me know if you have further questions.

oh crap, that stinks
can I request that as a feature? I was the one that pushed for us to get XI after using core for over 15 years
So I miss being able to use vim to make massive changes really fast
