Windows Event monitoring with XI

Hello,

We are attempting to configure Windows Event monitoring with XI and we're running into a little snag.

This article: https://assets.nagios.com/downloads/nag ... entLog.pdf

States that one of the prerequisites to installing NagEventLog is Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable Package (x86), however that version went out of extended support in April of 2016 and therefor presents a security risk on our environment.

The website that belongs to the author of the application: http://www.steveshipway.org/software/

Does not appear to be updated anymore and the application hasn't been updated since 2009.

Are you aware of a way to get the application to work with C++ 2010? Or, are there any other methods for monitoring Windows Events with XI?

Thank you.

Hi @rferebee,

Another option is to use the NCPA agent to monitor event logs on Windows using the logs module. You can find documentation for this module at:

https://www.nagios.org/ncpa/help.php#api-modules-logs

Also, we are currently working to update the current Windows Event Log wizard to use NCPA. However, as it's in active development, I don't have a release date right now.

Please take a look at the documentation and let me know if you have further questions.
