clarification desired on nsca client side install

The community provided documentation on installing NSCA states:
Prerequisites
-Nagios should be previously installed and configured
I understand this is needed on the server.

When installing on the client, do I actually need to install nagios, or if I remember correctly as is the case with nrpe, just the nagios addons, and then install nsca?

Thanks for any guidance.

It's very similar to NRPE, you will configure the NSCA daemon on the Nagios server and distribute the send_nsca and send_nsca.cfg to your remote servers, no need to install Nagios everywhere.

Yes, any plugins you plan to use should be installed on the clients.

No problem. Don't be afraid to post here again if you have trouble setting it up.
