guys does it make sense to have active and passive checks enabled on a device at the same time?
we are using the
EMC CLARiiON
Monitor an EMC CLARiiON SAN.
Version: 2011-07-18, Author: Troy Lea aka Box293
plugin and have passive and active checks enabled.

It does make sense in many occasions. You may be monitoring a device actively in Nagios XI but you may have passive checks setup on the device, so data will be sent to the nagios server in case of an event (security, etc.). Under these circumstances, you would have both, the active and passive checks enabled.
Hope this helps.
