Hi,

We're just implementing Nagios core into our network, displacing SiteScope.

Our Sys Admins have the Service Status Details page up at all times on their monitors, however new events are getting lost on the screen when there are multiple existing alerts showing. For example, we have a bunch of servers that, when hammered hard, will all go into a Warning or Critical state at the same time. They will be in this state for a little while before returning to normal, so we don't acknowledge them. Now if a new service goes into warning or critical, we can miss it amongst the sea of yellow or red.

I was wondering if there is something out there already that would flash new alert, or throw a border on the cell to make the new alert stand out from the crowd.

You could make a hostgroup that includes all hosts except the ones that get hammered all the time. Then you could view that hostgroup to exclude the ones you expect to be in a warning or critical state often. I realize it isn't a very satisfactory solution, but I'm not aware of any Nagios interfaces with the feature you're looking for.

Personally I rely on email notifications more than looking at the web interface, and it that case the solution is easy. Just set up email filters that make it easy to separate the important notifications from the unimportant ones.
