Hi Team,

Nagios service (NRPE) stopped working on AIX 7.1 Production server after the reboot of this server. NRPE was working fine until the reboot. We are getting the message as "Inoperative" while starting the service.

Could you please advise.

First thing, do you see any error messages in the system log (I believe that's /var/log/messages) when you try to query NRPE?

Next, was there a change that prompted the reboot of the server? If so, do you know if it affected any of the NRPE files, usually stored in /usr/local/nagios/

Is it's possible to have a webex meeting to share screen to work on this issue.

We should do some troubleshooting before we get to a remote session.

In AIX, a service goes to "inoperative" when it hits an error in start up. So you will have to disable the service, enable the service, and try to start it again. That should give you a fresh error message to go off of. It might display it to the console or it might put it in the error log. Find that message and post it back here.

This issue was resolved. Process ID was locked which cause NRPE service to fail, We have killed and started the service back. Please close this thread.
