check_yum output parsed incorrectly

We are running XI 5.6.7 on CentOS 7.7.
Checking YUM update status on other CentOS boxes recently broke--something's not parsing the output correctly. See the attached screenshot for details.
This is how we're doing our Yum checks:
$USER1$/check_nrpe -H $HOSTADDRESS$ -t 30 -c $ARG1$ $ARG2$
ARG1 is "check_yum"
What I think broke it is a recent update from rhnlib 2.8 to python2-rhnlib 2.9 (python2-rhnlib replaced rhnlib). I need python2-rhnlib for Spacewalk 2.9.
Thanks in advance.
