Hi Nagios Support,

Right now, we have a script that will notify us should the MQ channel become
inactive or not running. However, we only need it to keep us alerted after like
more than 30 mins. Is there a way to get this configured in Nagios Xi ? So it means
there will be no notifications if service goes back to normal during this period.

Please advise. Thanks.

Hi Louis,

There is a setting for First Notification Delay that will wait x number of minutes before sending the notification. If the host or services recovers during that delay, you will not get notified. Let us know if you have any other questions.

Thanks for your prompt reply.
Just for quick understanding. Currently, we have configured Check Interval as 5 mins,
Retry Interval 1 min and Max Check Attempts as 10. Will this has any impact on the
notification to be sent out (after 30 mins). Also, what does the Notification Interval
of 60 mins do in this case ? It is not set at the moment. Any issue ?

It's just going to wait 30 minutes before sending the first notification. Once the first notification is sent, then the notification interval specifies the number of minutes to wait before re-notifying the contact (if the host or service is still down).

With the current settings, once the service goes into a non-ok state, it will check every minute, 10x before putting the service into the HARD non-OK state and generating the notification.
