We would like to upgrade nagios version from XI 5.2.7 to latest version. since we are not able utilize api futures in current version.

Can you please answer below questions and guide us best process approach.

1. Can we upgrade version directly from Administrative Tasks --> Important Tasks --> A new Nagios XI update is available.
2. What data should we need to take backup.
3. How much the migration process will take.
4. We would like to automate version upgrade process for every release from nagios. Can we have any script or program to do that from official support side.
5. Is the new version upgrade needs to have any license purchase .

I would strongly suggest following the Manual upgrade process, no additional license is required other than current maintenance (which you likely have as you are posting in the Customer support group)

We don't have a process of automating upgrades, it is also a good idea to make sure that you can successfully apply configuration before starting the upgrade process each time as it can affect the outcome if there were errors in the configuration before performing the upgrade.
